In Full

The Georgian Group is a British charity dedicated to preserving Georgian buildings and gardens.  The charity's intervention has helped to save many Georgian buildings from destruction and has protected others from harm.
The 2011 Awards were presented by Viscount Linley on 31st October 2011.  Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham won the award for the Restoration of a Georgian Country House.
The project, on which Fanshawe were employed as Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor, was completed in Autumn 2010.  Originally designed and created as a Gothic fantasy between 1747 and 1792 by Horace Walpole, historian, writer and collector and son of Britain’s first Prime Minister Sir Robert Walpole, the building was at risk by 1993.  The project comprised the restoration of fabric, reinstatement of Walpole's plan form and decorative scheme.  The external colour scheme was reinstated and selected furnishings were also recreated including bespoke damask.  Further details can be found on Fanshawe's website and at the following link: -
