Strawberry Hill, Horace Walpole’s gothic mansion in Twickenham, is amongst the laureates of the European Union’s awards for cultural heritage in 2013.

Fanshawe provided Project Management, Contract Adminstration and Quantity Surveying Services on outstanding and highly commended project.
Strawberry Hill House, Twickenham
Created by the 18th-century politician, art collector and writer, Horace Walpole, Strawberry Hill House is internationally famous as Britain’s finest example of Georgian Gothic revival architecture. But it had become seriously neglected, falling into decay and suffering even more from poor repairs. With local and national support, restoration work began in 2006, based on highly detailed research and the archaeology of the building itself. As a result, the interiors have been conserved and restored according to their original 18th century designs.
The Jury applauded the beautiful conservation of this exceptionally influential place, and admired the courage and commitment shown by local volunteers and the Strawberry Hill Trusts professional partners.
